The spring loaded gate allows a lineman to utilize a holding stick to open the gate and place the grip on the wire. When released, the gate closes over the wire and prevents the grip from falling off the wire.
Boasting a wire size range from 4.57mm t0 15.24mm (Gauge: 6AWG ā 4/0AWG), this model is suitable for use with stranded copper* and ACSR** cable types.
*Stranded CopperĀ -Ā This type of wire, used for carrying voltage, has been used less frequently over the last few years and has been replaced by ACSR. However, it is still occasionally used as an overhead conductor and also in substations.
** ACSRĀ -Ā Reinforced Cable (ACSR) High-strength, high-capacity conductor.
